Supposedly, to celebrate their victory, the Indians had decided to burn some of the prisoners. Mrs. Du Bois and her baby were selected to be the first victims.
As a pole of logs was arranged, she began to sing the 137th Psalm as a death chant.
Because she had a beautiful voice, the Indians witheld the fire to listen; they then demanded more.
The husbands of the victims and their Dutch supporters heard her singing and found where they were held captive. The Indians were surrounded, killed, and their prisoners released., weitere Partnerschaften zu «953»
