The first child and first son of Wilhelm Gustav (1848-1926) and Helga Metta Wilhelmine Jung, nee Poppe (1856-1924), Hans was born on June 16, 1891, and died on October 20, 1957, at the age of sixty-six in Bremen, Germany.
According to Arend Jung-Poppe of Heidjerskampe 4a, Bremen in 2002, Architect Johann Georg Poppe (1837-1915) urged Hans’ parents to change their surname to “Jung-Poppe� to prevent the threat of extinction of the “Poppe� surname in 1910.
According to the Register of Passports, he was given a passport to travel to “Ostpreussen u. Danzig�.
Hans’ inscription is found to the left of the central tombstone of Johann Georg Poppe (1837-1915), the noted Bremen architect and Hans’ granduncle and second cousin once removed, in the Riensberger Friedhof, a Bremen cemetery.
