2633	Albrecht PAGENSTECHER , 11.04.1839 Osnabrück, Germany, USA, [I7453], Gymnasium Osnabrück , N: Gymnasium Osnabrück., Banker, Paper manufacturer, , N: Exporter of lard and coffee in New York, an influential paper producer., Accused of treason, he fled Europa and came to the States with start-up funds from fellow German refugees. In America Albrecht became an exporter of petroleum before investing in the manufacture of paper from wood pulp in 1866. Together with his cousins, Alberto and Rudolf, he acquired the rights to the Voelter patent for making paper from groundwood. The family became quite well-to-do, and Albrecht served on the board of directors of International Paper for many years as well as on the boards of other institutions such as the German Savings Bank in NY and the Germania Insurance Cy. with fellow Bremenites such as “Fritz�? Achelis, Thomas Achelis, and Thomas F. Vietor.
