2766 Clemens Emil PONFICK , 03.11.1845 Frankfurt/Main, 03.11.1913 Breslau, Germany, [I7878], Pathologist, ordinatius at Rostock, publisher of medical books , N: Patholigist, Emil undertook pathological-anatomical studies with Friedrich Daniel von Recklinghausen at Wuerzburg and then moved in 1886 to the pathological institute in Berlin as assistant to Rudolf Virchow, becoming first assistant in 1873.
While there, he published works on the pathology of the liver and spleen, as well as the blood and bone marrow, embollsm of the sesentric artery.
In 1873, he was appointed ordinatius of the subject at Rostock. In 1875 he accompanied the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg on an expedition to Egypt, Nubia, Sinai, Cyprus, and Constantinople.
Three years later, he was appoimted to a foudation chair of pathology in Goettingen, and there continued his work on Haematological topics such as Myelogenous leukemia.
