, 04.03.1847 Germany?, England, [I7298], nursaryman, plant hunter, He trained as a nurseryman in Germany, including a spell at Messrs Kropp Erfurt which may have been run by a brother of Diedrich Samuel Kropp. He then went to England and maried a lady from a well-to-do family and set up a nursery business in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He began to import orchids and sent planthunters all over the place to find new specimens which commanded high prices from trhe Rothschilds, Barings and the like.
