4468 Justus Heinrich Friedrich Wilhelm Caesar Von DIEMAR «aus 4465» , 02.04.1756 Meiningen/Hessen, Germany, 02.02.1822 Hersfeld, Hessen, Germany, [I5798], 2.3.1779 First Lieutenant of the Ansbach Jägers , N: 2.3.1779 First Lieutenant of the Anspach Jägers, Generalleutnant , N: kurfürstl. hessischer Premier-Leutnant, He is listed in the German troop file from the American Revolution. He was a kind of sniper for the British. He must have been a great shot with the musket. In the USA the name of the von Diemar changed to De Diemar.

“How did I discover the name was changed? In May 1995, Mary Bordeman, a researcher at the Mormon Library in Boca Raton, Florida, was looking at records from the “Gentlemans Magazine dated August 1754. It was an obscure magazine from Great Britain published in the 1700’s.
She found mentioned that a Baron Ernst Hartmann von Diemar, an uncle of Julius Augustus Burchard von Diemar had died in Deberndorf, Franconia, Germany, in 1754 and that he was a Field Marshall in the Imperial Service. Luckily for me, they anglicized von D. to de Diemar.
Finding this opened my research widely, to say the least. A few months later, I was in the internet and found a gentleman (Regis Corbin) in Québec, Canada, looking for any living De Diemars in the United States. I contacted him and one of his ancestors was the first wife of Julius Augustus Burhard von Diemar. From these two instances, my resarch ballooned a hundredfold.
“Our name is von Diemar in Germany, de Diémar in Canada, De Diemar in the United States.
