782 | Philip De HERLIN I
«aus 787»
, um 1575 Antwerp, Belgium, 27.03.1659 Emden, Lower Saxony, Germany, nach 1659 Germany?, [I1579], N: Merchant (koopman) in Bremen and Emden, Germany, Most of the living Herlyns have their origins in the north of Germany- Ostfriesland-from Philip. He resided in Bremen initially but moved to Emden where he bought three houses. His son Charles was disinherited because of his wasteful habits. A large percentage of the Herlin family from 1700 onward were farmers in Ostfriesland. One quarter of these were farmers by 1900. Farms could not be divided if a family had more than one son so some males left Europe in the mid-19th century for America. | ||
